Escondido “No Están Solos” Welcome Center for Migrant Children

This new ministry housed at First UMC Escondido is part of a Cal-Pac Conference initiative to open Immigration Welcome Centers in all 4 districts of the conference. The purpose of these centers is to be an extension of God’s welcoming, healing embrace to the thousands of unaccompanied migrant children (and their families) who have made the perilous journey from Central America to seek refuge among us.

Our launch event is scheduled for February 20th and will be a resource fair offering activities for children and a community meal along with a Know Your Rights presentation by the ACLU and Casa Cornelia Law Center on-site with information regarding the Deferred Action programs. Volunteers will be needed as we grow this ministry to include classes, camps, and activities throughout the year. For more information visit
