and Volunteer Leaders responsible for SPRC, Finance and Discipleship

Each workshop will repeat. Participants may choose two of the four offerings:

Workshop I  “Shepherds Not Sheep” Led by Rev, John Farley, South District Superintendent

We will share the many ways to connect with, and guide those who arrive at our doors deeper into the caring community of faith. First impressions are lasting impressions. We will identify what helps people get connected and stay connected.

Workshop II  “Disciples: Being, Making and Nurturing Them as the Church Community”  Led by Rev. David Berkey, Director of Camping and Age Level Ministries

We will explore what it means to have a life-long, year-round discipleship system in the church including discovering and inviting people, relating them to God, nurturing them in the development of their faith and sending them as disciples for the transformation of the world.

Workshop III “Establishing the Employment Relationship” Led by Jan Hansen, Cal-Pac Director of Human Resources

This workshop will provide an overview of some of the most common employment-related issues as well as offer tools to help churches decide whether the person doing the work is an employee, a contractor or a volunteer. There will also be a discussion of items and issues relating to the payment of wages, including the question of classification as either exempt or non-exempt.

Workshop IV “Tables I, II, and III: Getting the Numbers Right Pays Off!” Led by Susan Naslund, South District Administrative Assistant

Does it really matter what is entered in Line 7a? Yes! Learn why it is important to enter accurate statistics and find out which totals matter most. This workshop will be especially helpful this year as Tables I, II and III (due February 28th) have changed significantly. Come with your questions and share your knowledge with others.
