Dear Sisters and Brothers of the South District,
I want to raise your awareness to a very important event for your church coming Tuesday, May 15, at Hope UMC in Rancho Bernardo. I believe you are all acutely aware of the challenge of maintaining church buildings both for aesthetic and function, but also for safety and liability reasons. Most of our churches are dealing with aging facilities on a daily basis. This reality comes home as we find ourselves dealing with more and more damage and liability claims, making the list of those who will provide property and liability coverage for our churches an ever shrinking field.
Our current provider, Philadelphia Insurance, in partnership with HUB International, our Insurance Broker, have information on ways that we can be proactive in addressing these insurance concerns. I want to encourage you each to send a team from your local church to attend the “Loss Control Workshop” on Tuesday, May 15. It is critical that we do all we can to be proactive in this area, and the expertise they offer is an exceptional resource.
